Interactive Brokers and Slovenian taxes: from Flex Query to eDavki
How to set up the one IBKR report you need, export it correctly and turn it into XML for eDavki. Also works for CapTrader, LYNX, Estably and WH SelfInvest, which run on the IBKR platform.
Why one year per run, from the start
Slovenia requires FIFO: each sale is matched against your oldest purchase of the same security. A Flex Query run covers at most 365 days, so a single export for the tax year leaves out older purchases, their cost basis becomes zero and the tax is overstated. Run the query once for each calendar year since you opened the account and upload all files together.
Step 1: Open Flex Queries
Step 2: Create an Activity Flex Query
On some CapTrader accounts a full-year run returns an error. Export shorter periods, for example by quarter, and upload them all; duplicate rows are recognised and skipped.
Step 3: Upload and download the XML
The app itself is in Slovene; button names are given with a translation.
What is imported, and what is not
Imported: purchases and sales of securities (Doh-KDVP); options, futures and CFDs are recognised by Asset Class and placed on D-IFI. Not imported from the IBKR export: dividends, foreign withholding tax, interest, corporate actions (splits, spin-offs, mergers), forex and crypto. Dividends and interest are in separate Flex Query sections that are not read; handle them manually or with a tax adviser.
Then import each XML into eDavki; the portal steps are in How to file in eDavki. All forms are due by 28 February for the previous year.
FAQ
Does IBKR Lite or Pro make a difference?
No. Both have the same Flex Query reports.
IBKR reports in USD. Will the conversion be right?
Yes. Every value is converted to euros at the ECB reference rate for the date of the transaction.
