Trading 212 and Slovenian taxes: export, upload, file

How to get your full Trading 212 history out, turn it into the XML files eDavki accepts, and which forms you need. Written for Slovenian tax residents who invest through Trading 212.

Why you need your full history

Slovenia requires the FIFO method: every sale is matched against your oldest purchase of the same security. If you only export the tax year, sales of shares bought earlier have no purchase to match, the cost basis becomes zero and the tax comes out far too high. Trading 212 limits one export to 12 months, so export each year separately, from the year you opened the account up to the end of the tax year.

Step 1: Export from Trading 212

Step 2: Upload the files

The app itself is in Slovene; the button names are given below with a translation.

Step 3: Download the XML

Which forms Trading 212 gives you

Then import each file into eDavki; the portal steps are in How to file in eDavki. The deadline for all forms is 28 February for the previous year.

FAQ

My trades are in GBP or USD. Is that a problem?

No. Every transaction is converted to euros at the ECB reference rate for its own date, as Slovenian rules require.

I have both Invest and CFD accounts.

Upload only Invest. CFD trades go on D-IFI and must be entered separately.
